Recently, the Department of Local Affairs (DOLA), through the Division of Housing's State Housing Board, voted on, approved, and awarded $12,080,000 for 352 additional affordable housing units across the state.
The State of Colorado seeks to offer a continuum of housing alternatives for households with various requirements and Area Median Incomes (AMI), as well as for individuals looking for housing in combination with social services, in order to meet the demands of an ever-changing population.
Affordable Housing in Development
1. The Reserves at Eagle Point ($4M - Adding 192 units)
Overland Property Group, LLC a for-profit developer was awarded $4,000,000 for The Reserves at Eagle Point, 192 units of affordable housing for families in Aurora, Colorado.
The project will have 48 one bedroom, 96 two-bedroom, and 48 three- bedroom units- with an average affordability of 56.8%. A total of 20 units are at 30% AMI. The project will have a wide range of incomes tailored to the needs of the community and will reach previously unattainable income levels while providing deeper affordability.
2. Westside Mobile Home Park ($4M - Adding 58 units)
Elevation Community Land Trust (ECLT) was awarded a low interest loan to pursue the funding needed to begin a phased approach to replace 58 mobile home units for owners wanting a new modular home on a foundation.
3. Irving at Mile High ($4.08M - Adding 102 units)
Urban Land Conservancy (ULC) was awarded $4,080,000 for new construction of the Irving at Mile High Vista (the Irving), a proposed 102 apartment development with studios to three bedroom units at 20-80% AMI. Nearly a quarter of the units (25) will be restricted at or below 30% AMI.
