The Colorado Department of Local Affairs (DOLA) today announced that the application for the Director of the Division of Housing is now open. This leadership role is responsible for guiding the state’s housing strategy and advancing efforts to make housing more safe, secure, and affordable for all Coloradans. This position has not been open since 2015.

“As we begin the process of selecting the next Director of the Division of Housing, we're looking for a Director who can build on the progress we’ve made—while embracing new strategies and partnerships to meet the evolving needs of our communities,” said Maria De Cambra, DOLA Executive Director. “Selecting the next Director of the Division of Housing is a pivotal decision. This role is crucial to expanding access to housing people can afford, and ensuring that all Coloradans have a safe and stable place to call home.”

The Division of Housing manages a wide range of programs and resources, including federal and state grants, rental assistance, homelessness response initiatives, supportive housing services, and manufactured housing oversight. The next Director will lead a team of almost 200 policy experts, grant managers, and program administrators who work in partnership with local governments, nonprofits, housing authorities, developers, and community members.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in housing policy, public service, and systems-level leadership, with a commitment to advancing housing opportunities and delivering results for Coloradans in every region of the state.

The application is now live on the Department’s careers webpage. Interested candidates must apply by June 30, 2025. The new Director is expected to begin in fall 2025.

The search begins as longtime Director Alison George prepares to retire in mid-October after 15 years of service. Since joining DOLA in 2010 and assuming the director role in 2015, George has played a central role in expanding housing access and strengthening housing programs across the state. She will continue to serve through the transition period to ensure a smooth handoff to new leadership.

Visit our careers webpage for further details regarding this position and other open opportunities at DOLA.
