Annual Audit Requirement - C.R.S. 29-1-601 et seq.
Local Governments must complete and submit a copy of an audit of their financial statements or an application for exemption from audit on an annual basis.
Do NOT submit audits or an application for exemption to the Department of Local Affairs. They MUST be submitted to the Office of the State Auditor. Once audits/exemptions have been approved, they will be sent to the Department of Local Affairs to be added to the Local Government Information System.
