The Department of Local Affairs (DOLA) is excited to announce the appointment of Maulid “Mo” Miskell as its new Deputy Executive Director, effective December 1, 2024. Miskell brings almost 25 years of state government experience in Colorado and Washington D.C., including a deep commitment to making housing more affordable, process improvement and regulatory oversight.

“We are delighted to welcome Mo Miskell as DOLA’s new Deputy Executive Director,” said Maria De Cambra, DOLA’s Executive Director. “With his unwavering commitment, innovative leadership, and understanding of how to make housing more affordable in Colorado, along with his background in process improvement, he promises to make a remarkable impact on DOLA’s efforts statewide.”

Miskell has been serving as the DOH Deputy Director of DOH since 2022, where he oversaw process improvements and implementation of several crucial initiatives, including Proposition 123's implementation. This landmark housing initiative has been instrumental in creating affordable housing across the state.

Miskell’s selection signals DOLA’s ongoing commitment to addressing Colorado’s housing challenges with a forward-thinking approach. His hands-on experience in housing policy, regulatory frameworks, and intergovernmental collaboration makes him ideally suited to advance DOLA’s mission of building stronger, more resilient communities across the state. Prior to his current role in state government, Miskell managed numerous regulatory programs as a Program Director with the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies' Division of Professions and Occupations for almost 11 years. He held a similar position for the District of Columbia's Department of Health for almost 6 years.

Miskell will be stepping into this role as DOLA’s current Deputy Executive Director, Dionne Stroter departs from DOLA to become the new Deputy County Manager for Adams County. Dionne has been an integral part of the DOLA leadership team serving in this role for almost four years, and her contributions have left a lasting mark on the State.

“As Dionne embarks on her new role at Adams County, we want to express our heartfelt best wishes for her success,” said Executive Director De Cambra. “Her exceptional leadership and deep passion for local government have left a lasting impact on our team. We look forward to continued collaboration with Dionne in her new position.”
