After almost two years, the Housing Recovery Program (HRP) will wind down intake of applications on July 15, 2024 for all Rebuilding and Mitigation forgivable and traditional loan applications from recent disasters prioritizing lower income Coloradans with the remaining funds.

The Department of Local Affairs has launched the Wind and Wildfire Home Protection Mitigation Program as an extension of the State of Colorado Housing Recovery Program. This program is eligible for owners of a primary residence (at the time of the disaster and application) impacted by a state declared disaster since 2018, including the Marshall Fire and Straight Line Wind event.

In order to give the public an opportunity to learn more about the proposed changes to the Marshall Fire Community Development Block Grant for Disaster Recovery Action Plan and to ask questions and offer feedback, the Colorado Department of Local Affairs will conduct a public hearing next week.

To address community concerns about the ability to qualify, the discrepancy between the rebuild estimate and the actual costs, and the difficulty of the loan application process, the Department of Local Affairs (DOLA) is implementing changes for those seeking additional assistance.

Today, the Department of Local Affairs announced that applications for the State’s Housing Recovery Program along with other Colorado Disaster Rebuild programs are now open.
